NFC and Android Beam

I have a friend who also has a Galaxy S2 and the other day, we were trying to share a pic through NFC, but we weren't able to. NFC and Android Beam is enabled, it doesn't seem like there's anything else to check, does it even work? We are both running the latest and Official (non-rooted) Samsung ICS release

Anyone has success or knows how to share through NFC, let me know.
