How to Find a Genuine Home-Based Business Opportunity | My ...

With all those scams out there how does one go about finding a genuine home-based business opportunity? The good news is that they are out there, the bad news is that sometimes it takes quite a long time to find one that is actually genuine and that suits you.

Genuine Home-based Businesses should be Established

Genuine home-based businesses should be able to tell you how long they have been around, their company registration number, who owns the company and other details that you would normally expect a business to provide. if they can?t provide these simple details then you should be wary.

Genuine Home-based Businesses should have happy customers

You should be able to get testimonials from people who have joined the opportunity and have been satisfied with it, other than the people who are trying to sell you the program. The people who gave these testimonials should also be contactable and you should be able to get at least some of their contact details so that you can contact them personally.

Genuine Home-based Businesses should be contactable

You shouldn?t just have an email or postal address for the company but you should also be given, at least, a telephone number and preferably as many details as possible. if people do not give all their contact details be wary because they may be trying to hide.

Be wary of MLM and Get Rich quick schemes

If there was a way for people to get rich quick don?t you think everybody would be doing it? Most get rich quick programs, unfortunately, are scams and tend to rather make you poor so be very wary before you go into anything like that. The other thing to be wary of is MLM. MLM programs tend to make the people at the top richer while the people at the bottom get poorer. if someone tells you that if you join such and such a program and so many people join under you and in turn so many people under them, watch out This is an MLM or pyramid scheme and you should be very wary. This is not however the same as being an affiliate or agent for a program which can be a very good way to make money because it is not based on the same MLM pyramid structure.

In conclusion, there are genuine home-based business opportunities out there and although they may be difficult to find if you follow the rules above you should be able to find one that meets your needs and gives you the freedom and flexibility you have been craving in your search for finding a home-based business so keep looking and I wish you all the best.

Sprint kings cruise, Pistorius, Serena make history

World record holder Usain Bolt and world champion Yohan Blake stormed onto centre-stage at the Olympics on Saturday as amputee runner Oscar Pistorius and tennis star Serena Williams made history.

Defending 100m champion Bolt clocked 10.09sec in his first round heat for the blue riband event of the Games while Jamaican compatriot Blake timed 10sec.

However, both men were upstaged in front of 80,000 people at the Olympic Stadium by the 9.88sec run by America's Ryan Bailey.

Former Olympic champion Justin Gatlin clocked 9.97sec while Tyson Gay, the world double sprint champion from Osaka in 2007, came through in 10.08sec.

"I expected it, I'm running well, I'm happy, training is great. Reaction was good," said Bolt, whose build-up to the Games had been hit by a number of worrying niggles. "I'm looking forward to the semifinals."

South Africa's Pistorius marked his landmark occasion by qualifying for the 400m semi-finals with a season's best of 45.44sec.

Pistorius had both legs amputated below the knee before he was aged one, because of a congenital condition, and runs on carbon fibre blades.

"It's just an experience to be here. It's a dream come true," said Pistorius, whose time was the 16th fastest overall.

Defending champion LaShawn Merritt, who has struggled back from a doping ban, stopped running after 250 metres of his heat and crossed the line at walking pace.

"This was my life's race," said the 26-year-old American. "I have been around a long time, but I am still young."

The women's 100m gold will be decided in Saturday's evening session while Jessica Ennis, the poster girl for the Games, was poised for heptathlon gold, opening a 188-point lead with just the 800m to run.

Women's double Olympic polevault champion Yelena Isinbayeva safely negotiated qualifying for Monday's final.

Serena Williams clinched her first Olympic singles gold medal with a 6-0, 6-1 demolition of Maria Sharapova in the most one-sided women's final in the history of the Games.

Williams' victory, which surpassed Suzanne Lenglen's 6-3, 6-0 win over Dorothy Holman in 1920 in Antwerp, allowed her to become just the second woman to win a Golden Slam of all four major titles and Olympic singles gold.

"Oh my gosh, I got the gold. Wow, I'm so pumped," said Serena, who could win a third doubles gold when she teams with sister Venus against Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova.

On the busiest day of the Games so far, with 25 golds to be won, Britain moved into third place in the medals table after two more golds were secured in rowing.

Alex Gregory, Pete Reed, Tom James and Andrew Triggs Hodge led from the first stroke for a fourth successive fours title while Katherine Copeland and Sophie Hosking clinched lightweight double sculls gold.

In badminton, Li Xuerui took the women's singles title before Chinese compariots Zhao Yunlei and Tian Qing claimed the women's doubles.

Later Saturday, American swimming icon Michael Phelps will bring the curtain down on his glittering Olympic career.

After a slow start to his campaign, swimming legend Michael Phelps could well sign off with his fourth gold medal of the Games as he aims to consolidate his position as the most decorated Olympian in history.

The 27-year-old -- who claimed a record eight golds in Beijing four years ago -- will be strongly fancied to collect the 18th gold of his career, and his 22nd career Olympic medal, in Saturday's 4x100m medley relay.

In other highlights of the final day of action in the pool, China's Sun Yang will attempt to complete a long distance double by adding the 1,500m crown to the 400m crown won earlier in the games.

Britain's cyclists will attempt to extend their crushing dominance in the Velodrome, where the hosts have so far won three out of four golds on offer and are on course to match their Beijing haul of seven.

The British team will expect to bag another gold in the women's team pursuit after a world-record breaking performance to reach the final.

Be Healthy: USDA Leader Promotes Fresh Food Access in the ...

August 2, 2012 at 5:19 PM

By Chloe Rickert

Editor?s Note: Every week, Breaking Bronx features a health-related story, event or tidbit as part of an online expansion of our Be Healthy! column.

Nicole Stavrinos (left), a culinary nutritional specialist, with USDA administrator Audrey Rowe. (Photo courtesy of USDA)

Audrey Rowe, national Administrator of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), visited the Poe Park Greenmarket on Tuesday to view firsthand the types of projects that bring affordable fresh produce to the Bronx, a borough struggling mightily with high obesity rates.

FNS is responsible for programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs or SNAP (previously called the Food Stamp Program). SNAP helps low-income shoppers buy fresh produce at the increasing number of farmers? markets in New York City.

Rowe is visiting farmers? markets around the country to promote the mutual benefits of the program.

?I talk to farmers because I want to know what they think,? she said on Tuesday. ?They see a real benefit because this is an expanded customer base, so it?s a win-win. People get fresh produce, they get introduced to new foods, they learn how to cook new foods, and farmers get new revenue.?

The USDA is also trying to dispel the myth that low-income families struggling to put food on the table are forced to buy cheaper, less nutritious foods.

?Are Healthy Foods Really More Expensive? It Depends on How You Measure the Price,? a recent study by USDA?s Economic Research Service reported that many healthy foods cost no more per portion than foods high in saturated fat, added sugars, and/or sodium.

Nutrition assistance programs are a big part of this change, Rowe said, because they help shoppers and farmers at the same time. ?We saw last year an increase of about $6 billion coming in to farmers? markets nationally as a result of access to SNAP,? Rowe said.

When asked how SNAP could be affected under a different administration, Rowe confidently said, ?[SNAP] provides jobs, has economic benefits, and helps make people healthy. I don?t care who you are, when you?re walking into an administration and you hear those three things happening, you?re going to want to continue this program.?

ASTRO: Medicare cuts could harm cancer care

The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule that CMS released on July 6 proposes to significantly cut the reimbursement rate for radiation oncology services, beginning on January 1, 2013. These cuts represent a 15% reduction in overall payment, ASTRO said.

The most significant portion of the cuts, 7% overall, is due to a change in the treatment times for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), according to ASTRO. Instead of using the established process for valuing Medicare services, CMS relied on information from patient education materials to support the proposed new treatment times for IMRT and SBRT.

To back its position, ASTRO conduct a survey of its members to assess how they might respond to the proposed payment cuts. According to nearly 600 individual survey responses the society gathered in July, the cuts could severely affect community-based cancer care across the country:

  • Access to care for Medicare patients could be limited: 70% of survey respondents reported they might have to limit treatment to Medicare patients, and 49% said they may be forced to no longer accept Medicare patients.
  • Cancer centers may close: 35% of respondents in freestanding centers said they might close their practice, while 64% would have to consolidate practice locations, which would lead to longer travel times for patients getting daily treatments.
  • Possible economic loss to communities: 53% of community-based practices might lay off physicians, and 81% of community-based practices might lay off professional staff such as nurses.
  • Access to state-of-the-art technology could be affected: 93% could delay or cancel purchasing new, state-of-the-art technology, which would affect treatment options.

Members of Congress have also expressed concern about the proposed radiation oncology cuts. Reps. Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Frank Pallone (D-NJ), the respective chairman and ranking member of the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee health subcommittee, as well as Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), are circulating a letter among their colleagues that will be sent to the administration. A similar bipartisan letter is being drafted in the Senate, ASTRO said.
